Team Camp at Mt. Hood

Wintergreen coaches have always seen dramatic improvement in our racers that participate in summer ski camps. Wintergreen teams hosts our own Summer Ski Camp at Mount Hood Oregon.

A day at race camp at Mount Hood starts with

  • 5:30 am Wake up, breakfast
  • 7 am Load vans to the mountain.
  • 7:30 am Load lift to the top of the Palmer Glacier (takes about 20 minutes).
  • 8-11:30 am On snow training. We will have a dedicated run for our team and we will ski laps through our lane. We will have combinations of drills, gates, timing and free ski with video on all aspects. The sun starts to soften the snow and there is no skiing on the glacier in the afternoon.
  • We will take the vans back to the town of Government Camp at Noon and eat lunch. Afternoon activities will include hiking, swimming, fishing, windsurfing, rafting and other. Government Camp is the name of a very small town that sits on the south side of Mount Hood just below the tree line about half way up the mountain. There are lots of outdoor recreation opportunities just outside the door.
  • Evenings will be spent relaxing after dinner and most people find an early bedtime makes the early morning much easier.

The camp is open to ages 8 and above; D-Team, Race Team. (D-Team members who have not attended camp will need to be approved by Chris Shepard)

Registration fee for the trip includes transportation to and from airport, lodging, meals, lift tickets, training lane, coaching, supervision. Windsurfing and rafting will require a nominal extra fee. This will be announced prior to the trip.

Air fare is a separate cost. We will recommend flights with arrival times that allow for transport vans to be used*. Anyone who wishes to arrive at a different time will be responsible for their own transport to Mount Hood.

Parents are encouraged to participate and will pay the same group rate as racers unless they choose not to ski. If they do not ski, the price of lift tickets can be prorated out. Parents will train with coaches on the same terrain and courses as the kids. Any special lodging requests will be accommodated with an appropriate charge.
